Fitness Goals
So I use to be a big fitness junkie a couple of years ago and because of some special projects, I've pretty much put my fitness goals on the back burner. Now with some stability in my life, I am happy to say I am back on track and it feels great! I do strength training four times a week. One day arms, the next day legs, followed up by two "rest days" (I will explain the quotations in a bit), then arms on the fifth day and legs again on day six. Day seven is yet another "rest day". After that the strength training cycle starts again. Now the reason why I added quotations is because my rest days can consist of cardio. I make this an optional choice so that I don't get overwhelmed when I have to miss a gym session because of work or other life events. So far this exercising regiment is working and even on days when I don't feel like working out I push myself to go. I am very motivated to reach my fitness goals and have lost 6% of body fat so far and my butt has grown half an inch! Exciting, I know!
Now let me explain my body structure and my fitness goal. I am 5'3 and currently 110 pounds. With small boobies, size A, and hips that measure 34 1/2 inches. Yes, I am very petite. Before I began to work out I was 112 pounds and had a body fat percentage of 29. If you know anything about body fat you would know that 29% body fat is considered obese. When I would explain this to people they would think I was crazy because I am/ look skinny. Well, in the fitness world there is a term for individuals that are skinny with a high body fat percentage. The term is called skinny fat. Skinny fat is when you have little muscle definition and a high percent of body fat. I accumulate body fat easily around my stomach and arms if, I don't watch what I eat. It probably has more to do with genetics than what I eat but nevertheless fat lingers in those areas. With the help of cardio, running in intervals, and strength training, four times a week, I have burned my body fat down to 23%. And get this, it only took me a month! Whoo hoo! I feel great and I am starting to see more and more muscle definition, which keeps me motivated to keep on working out and eating right. My fitness goal back in the day used to be to weigh 115 pounds with 18% body fat. Now, I am shooting for a more realistic goal. I want to be 110-112 pounds with a body fat of 20%. Having a body fat of 18% for a long period of time isn't healthy and I want to make sure my health is my number one priority. I mean, that is the whole point of being healthy and going on this fitness journey. Stay tuned for fitness tips and meals that I will be providing throughout my journey!
